World-Class Perot Museum of Nature and Science

Opened in December 2012, the Perot Museum is a world-class nature and science museum and a beautiful architectural addition to the Dallas skyline.  The building is registered with three green building accreditation programs: LEED, Green Globes and the Sustainable Sites Initiative with the guidance of architects Good, Fulton & Farrell.

In January of 2008, Pritzker Prize winning architect, Thom Mayne of mOrphosis Architects out of Culver City, CA, was announced as the designer of the new museum in Victory Park. In May of 2009, Balfour Beatty Construction was named General Contractor and Texas Bomanite was brought on shortly thereafter.

Over 7,280 man hours were required to complete the 30,000+ total square foot project.  A concrete shaver was brought in to take the slab down a fourth of an inch, intentionally exposing the large aggregate, and then polished to a 1,500 grit and densified for a “Terrazzo” look.  6,700 linear feet of decorative scoring added an additional element to the first floor.
