The City of Austin recently contacted the Texas Bomanite offices to update the previously stained and sealed concrete floors at the Gus Garcia Recreation Center.  We installed the flooring system during the original construction in 2006.  Located at 1201 East Rundburg Lane in Austin, the center offers youth, teen, adult and senior programs for the community.

The approximately 20,000 SF facility includes a gymnasium with 6 basketball hoops, a climbing wall, a fitness center, a computer room, a “Tiny Tot” room and an aerobics/dance room.  Our 5,000 SF worth of stained and polished concrete is located in the entrance and lobby areas of the building.   The floors were polished to a 1,500 grit with a salt and pepper exposure.  The Bomanite “Sweet Potato” color defines the space and gives it a warm and welcoming feel to accompany the abundance of natural light.  To top it off, we completed 825 LF of polyurea joint filler dyed to match.  The Bomanite Patene Teres Polishing System will provide years of service with lower maintenance than the original stained floors.

For more information about the rec center, visit the City of Austin’s Parks and Recreation department’s website here.
